PungNyu / 風流 / Korean Wave

Pungnyu (풍류/風流) means literally wind flowing. It refers to classical entertainment in real life. Traditionally, Korean gentlemen liked to enjoy nature by visiting beautiful mountains and clean rivers (산자수명/山紫水明), as seen below.
When they got excited, they loved to write poems describing the beautiful landscape and their sentiment. Some of them drew a picture either on the spot or from memory and imagination afterwards. A famous scholar and writer, Yun Seondo, showed up the real pungnyu at Seyeonjeong Bogildo.
In a sense, Pungnyu is said to be the origin or source of Hallyu (한류/韓流).
